Nas margens da cidade: a expressão da subjetividade moderna na obra de Oswaldo Goeldi

Este artigo pretende desenvolver uma reflexão sobre o registro particular em que se manifesta a sensibilidade expressionista no trabalho de Oswaldo Goeldi. Considerando que a obra de Goeldi é uma das mais consistentes no quadro da modernidade brasileira, destaca-se no presente texto a representação da cena urbana. Interessa buscar na cidade de Goeldi a manifestação dos sentidos mais peculiares de sua poética, estabelecendo um paralelo com o pensamento do ensaísta alemão Georg Simmel, que se dedicou à reflexão da crise provocada pela modernidade, apontando a cisão profunda que se deu então entre o mundo objetivo e a subjetividade humana.

This paper aims at thinking about the particular way in which the expressionist sensibility appears in the work of Oswaldo Goeldi. Considering that Goeldi is responsible for one of the most consisting works of the Brazilian modernity, it has been decided here to call attention for the urban scene representation. What matters here is to look for in Goeldi’s city manifestations of the most peculiar sense of his poetics, making a link with the thought of the German essayist Georg Simmel, who developed a reflection about the modernity crisis, pointing to the disconnection between the objective and the subjective world.
