Produtor incansável de textos escritos e de discursos improvisados, Rui Barbosa jamais deixou de se preparar para essa tarefa. As anotações de leitura revelam que realmente utilizava os livros de sua excepcional biblioteca. Destacam-se as anotações em obras de cunho literário, filosófico e gramatical, sobretudo em dicionários de língua portuguesa, ponto de partida para este estudo de suas marcas de leitura.

A tireless producer of written texts and improvised speeches, Rui Barbosa never stopped preparing for that task. His reading notes reveal that he really used the books of his exceptional library. It is worth mentioning the notes in works of a literary, philosophical, and grammatical nature, mainly in Portuguese dictionaries, the starting point for this study on his reading marks.
